Notification: problems discovered in recent laboratory safety inspections

All schools and colleges:

During recent months of this semester, laboratory safety supervisors and Office of Laboratory & Facility Management started regular laboratory safety inspections. Safety risks are as below and relevant schools must start to fix problems.

1. Emergency exits of some laboratories are blocked by sundries.

2. Laboratory instruments including air-conditioners, computers and electric heating equipments are not switched off when these instruments are not used.

3. Emergency plans are not detailed enough.

4. High-power electrical appliances, such as warmers, are used in laboratories without permission.
